Dr. Yvonne Girgis-Hanna

She spent 2 years in Specialist Renal Medicine at Guy’s Hospital before moving to General practice. She received further postgraduate training in Diabetes care and sexual and reproductive health.
Yvonne qualified from Cambridge University Medical School in 1997 and has been a GP for 20 years.
She has been with Cambridge Private Doctors since 2017, and is now proud to be one of the Directors.
She is experienced in all facets of general practice and has a specialist interest in chronic disease management including Diabetes, Kidney disease, Hypertension and Complex Frailty in the Elderly. She also enjoys seeing children. She co-manages the Weight Management Programme which is our new venture. Her particular area of expertise lies in fitting Contraceptive Coils and Implants.
Yvonne has particular expertise in:
- Diabetes/Metabolic syndrome
- Chronic Kidney disease
- Women’s health
- Fitting Coils for Contraception or Menopause
- Inserting contraceptive Implants
- Joint injections
Yvonne has been a GP educator for over 15 years and still supports the Cambridge training programme, teaches medical students and other professionals. She also appraises other GPs.
Growing up in Egypt and Northern Ireland and being married to a German National means that she is multilingual. She is fluent in Arabic and German and sometimes reverts to an Irish accent!
Yvonne’s working days are Tuesdays and some Saturdays at the Nuffield Hospital in Cambridge and Thursdays at our branch surgery in Sawston. If you can’t make it to any of these, she runs a remote clinic on Wednesday evenings and is willing to extend surgeries, so please email us.
