Both of these drugs are GLP-1 receptor agonists. But Mounjaro is a dual agonist, which means it mimics two hormones (glucose‐dependent insulinotropic polypeptide (GIP) and GLP-1)

We know several services now offering this treatment and are keen to ensure we provide a professional, evidence-based, and supportive service.
If you meet the eligibility criteria for Wegovy or Mounjaro and wish to have this medication to assist with weight loss, please book an initial remote Weight Management appointment (20 minutes) with one of our GPs.
You will be asked to complete a Health Screening Questionnaire before this appointment, which will form part of your initial assessment.
If you qualify for Wegovy/Mounjaro based on this assessment – your clinician will then arrange a 30-minute face-to-face appointment for a physical health check to review your lifestyle and provide instructions on using and monitoring the medication. If blood tests haven’t been carried out within the past six months, these will be arranged as part of your assessment.
Achieving and maintaining a lower body weight for patients taking Wegovy/Mounjaro is more successful when patients use this medication in conjunction with a weight loss support program. We are therefore delighted to offer all patients prescribed Wegovy free access to Dr. Gillvray’s lifestyle program, which will include an exercise program, nutrition tracking and advice, weight tracking, and habit support. This will be delivered through an online or app-based service and supplemented by weekly live webinars on health topics such as nutrition, stress, sleep, and exercise.
Wegovy or Mounjaro
Both medications are effective for weight loss. Which one is best for you depends on several factors, such as which is more suitable, which works better for you, or which one you prefer.
The monthly cost for the Wegovy medication and the lifestyle program will be:
- (0.25mg to 1mg) £250
- 1.7mg £350.
- 2.4mg £399
The monthly cost for the Wegovy medication and the message support only will be:
- (0.25mg to 1mg) £210
- 1.7mg £310
- 2.4mg £360
The monthly cost for the Mounjaro medication and the lifestyle program will be:
- (2.5 to 5mg) £300
- (7.5 to 10mg £320)
- (12.5 to 15mg £350)
The monthly cost for the Mounjaro medication and the message support only will be:
- (2.5 to 5mg) £260
- (7.5 to 10mg £280)
- (12.5 to 15mg £310)
If Wegovy or Mounjaro feel inappropriate, you can still access the lifestyle program for £99 per month.
Unfortunately, you cannot be prescribed Wegovy or Mounjaro if you have certain health conditions. This includes Type 1 Diabetes, severe chronic kidney or liver disease, pancreatitis, thyroid cancer, heart failure, pregnancy, breastfeeding, and inflammatory bowel disease. However, you may still benefit from the lifestyle program.
There is a tiny needle on the injector pen. You replace this at every injection. The pharmacy will supply you with a sharps box.

If Wegovy/Mounjaro is not deemed appropriate for you, the lifestyle program is available independently for £99 per month

To ensure your continued success, we recommend a review every six months, complete with updated blood tests, blood pressure monitoring, and weight assessment. These reviews, charged at the usual rate, provide an opportunity for personalized support and adjustments to your plan. If you have specific health conditions such as Type 2 diabetes or kidney disease, we may suggest more frequent monitoring.
